Portraits - FAQ's
Who are SugarSnaps Photography?
My name is Julia and I am the primary photographer for SugarSnaps Photography.
Are you studio based or do you come to the home?
SugarSnaps is mobile photographic studio that provides studio style portrait sessions in the comfort of your own home or out on location. We will visit you prior to any booking to discuss the most suitable space in your home for setting up the mobile studio.
How many photographers and assistants do you use at a portrait sitting?
There is usually only one photographer needed. An assistant may be required for certain portrait shoots.
What parts of the UK do you cover?
SugarSnaps provide mobile wedding photography from my base location in Sutton Surrey. This gives me easy access to all of London, Surrey and South East England.
Are you the portrait photographer who will actually take our pictures?
Simple, yes! The photographer who visits you at the consultation will be your photographer on the day. The SugarSnaps experience starts with a consultation between you and your photographer, either face to face, or on the phone. A visit to your home is usually recommended to ascertain the best space to use for the mobile studio. This is where we get to know the real you and the style you are looking for. Anything goes. The more personal and original the better. We’ll talk and give you plenty of tips. On the day itself, your photographer will help you to relax. It’s your creative adventure and it’s a lot of fun!
What is the style of photography?
At SugarSnaps, we don't just do portraits; we capture images full of genuine character and emotion. The style itself is completely up to you. Whether you prefer a formal portrait or a more candid approach, a pre-shoot consultation will determine the style of portraiture you have in mind. The finished print can be formal traditional portrait or unique piece of contemporary art that bring the spirit of life to your space like nothing else can. We find that we achieve the best results when people are relaxed and having fun.
How long does the photography session last?
As we come to your home, set up usually takes 1 hour, the portrait session is a minimum of 1 hour, and it takes roughly 45 minutes to pack-up after your session. It’s relaxed, informal and lots of fun. Bring your own props and lots of personality, and let our portrait photographer do the rest.
Do you photograph individuals/couples/groups etc?
The charge for a portrait session is for a 1-hour studio shoot. How many of your friends and family attend for that hour is entirely up to you. All you have to do is let us know in advance who is attending. This is something that will be discussed during the consultation. Your photographer will be well prepared for the shoot and will have lots of different fun ideas for all who participate in your session.
Do you provide a service for hair and make up?
SugarSnaps is all about capturing your natural character and revealing the real you and as a result we would prefer you to come as yourself. By all means make yourself up – once you’ve booked your session your photographer will either call you to help you prepare for your session or it will be covered in your consultation. Your photographer will be happy to recommend what will look best so you get the most out of your experience.
What shall I wear?
This is something that will be discussed at the consultation stage, yet we encourage you to dress in whatever you feel expresses your personality best.
Can I bring my pet?
As we are guests in your home, we are more than happy to include your pet as part of the family. Although for health & safety reasons, please check in advance with your photographer to ensure they can accommodate you and your pet.
How soon after the portrait shoot can I expect to see the images?
In most cases, you can expect to see your images within 2 to 3 weeks following the portrait session.
Do you provide images on DVD?
A proof DVD slideshow of your photo session will be provided for you to preview your photos at your leisure. This DVD slideshow provides a fun way for all your family to watch your session come alive. All the images are numbered to help you select the images you want to keep. The DVD must be returned to SugarSnaps with your print order. After your viewing you can order a DVD slideshow to keep. DVD slideshow prices are shown on our price guide page.
How much do your products cost?
SugarSnaps offers a wide range of print options that come in different sizes and formats to give you a striking feature in your home. As a guide, prices typically range from around £12 for a mounted 7”x5” image, and anything up to £700.00 for acrylics and canvas frames. There are also gift item options as well. What happens to the images after the photo session?
SugarSnaps will keep the images from your session for up to 1 year, so that you can go back at a later stage and purchase further images should you wish.
How long does it take before my print order is ready?
It will take approximately 3-4 weeks from the date you place your order for your finished portraits to be ready for dispatch.

Does my photographer really own the copyright of his/her pictures?
